AcCE Hosts Official Launch of Free Tertiary Education for Persons with Disabilities Initiative

Accra College of Education (AcCE) has had the honour of hosting the official launch of the Free Tertiary Education for Persons with Disabilities Initiative, a groundbreaking policy aimed at promoting inclusivity and equal access to higher education in Ghana.

The historic event was graced by H.E. President John Dramani Mahama, who officially launched the initiative, alongside the Minister of Education and the Chief Executive Officer of the Students Loan Trust Fund (SLTF).

In his keynote address, President Mahama described the new policy as “an act of justice and equality, not charity,” emphasizing the government’s unwavering commitment to ensuring that every Ghanaian, regardless of physical ability, has the opportunity to attain tertiary education.

The initiative, which will be implemented and managed through the Students Loan Trust Fund, is designed to cover tuition fees and related educational costs for eligible students with disabilities enrolled in accredited tertiary institutions across the country.

The Minister of Education commended the initiative as a significant step toward creating a fair and inclusive educational system, while the CEO of SLTF outlined the processes and eligibility criteria for beneficiaries.

The Principal of Accra College of Education expressed appreciation to the government for choosing AcCE as the venue for such a landmark launch, reaffirming the College’s commitment to supporting inclusive education and creating an enabling environment for all learners.
