ACCRA COLLEGE OF EDUCATION HOSTS DELEGATION FROM VOORHEES UNIVERSITY, USA

Accra College of Education welcomed a distinguished delegation from Voorhees University, South Carolina, USA, on Wednesday, 16th July 2025, as part of the university’s week-long working visit to Ghana. The delegation was led by the President of Voorhees University, Dr. Ronnie Hopkins.

The visit followed the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between the two institutions on 6th June 2025. The agreement, signed between the Center of Excellence for Educator Preparation and Innovation (EPI) at Voorhees University and Accra College of Education, aims to promote academic collaboration, professional development, and international learning experiences.

Facilitated by Hon. Alfred Okoe Vanderpuije, MP for Ablekuma South, the visit began with a warm reception by the Principal of Accra College of Education, Prof. Samuel A. Atintono, along with senior administrators, faculty members, and student leaders.

During their stay, the delegation was taken on strategic visits to key national education agencies. On 16th July, they toured the Ghana Tertiary Education Commission and the GETFund. The following day, 17th July, they visited the Ghana Scholarship Secretariat, the Parliamentary Select Committee on Education, and paid a courtesy call on the Minister for Education.

On 18th July, three resource persons from Voorhees University held a professional development session for final-year students of Accra College of Education. The session, which focused on educator preparation and innovation, was coordinated by Mr. Mathew Awime Ayamdoo, the College’s Coordinator for Innovation, Research, Professional Development, and International Relations.

To wrap up the visit, the College hosted the delegation to a cultural dinner on the evening of 18th July, showcasing Ghana’s rich traditions and deepening the bonds of friendship between the two institutions.

This visit reaffirms Accra College of Education’s commitment to building strong global partnerships that enhance teaching, learning, and research outcomes for faculty and students alike.
