Report on Action Learning and Research Workshop – 18th & 19th Feb. 2020

The Academic staff of Accra College of Education (AcCE) completed a two-day workshop on Action learning and Research from Tuesday February 18th to Wednesday February 19, 2020.

The workshop was facilitated by Dr. Brian K. Jennings, a British from wales, the founder of Action learning and Research Foundation in Ghana and also a lecturer at the Ghana Christian University College.

Dr. Brain to the Academic staff of AcCE through a series of activities to revive their research skills.

He further divided the staff into groups to make a presentation of what they have studied so far and how they would apply them in their near future.

The presentation saw groups like the mahogany group, the chocolate group, the star group, the Agblamaja group, the integrated stars group and the mechanic group.

Addressing the staff AcCE was the principal of the college, Dr. Samuel Atintono. He reminded the staff that their appointments, according to the harmonised scheme of service for colleges of Education was temporal. He made it clear that the first four years of work is a probation period.

Also, any staff who fails to get promotion after 12years would be sacked. This is because promotions are no longer based on long term of service but on publications, community work and standard of teaching. This process will be adhered to because of the tertiary regulations which backs all colleges of Education. He was also thankful to Dr. Brown for the additional knowledge he gave to the academic staff of AcCE.

In attendance at the workshop was the Vice Principal of the College, Mrs Elizabeth Aikins and the Internal Auditor Mr. Samuel Odame Agyiri, C.A
