It was all active-learning galore when the Level 100 B.Ed. (Early Grade) student-teachers of Accra College of Education (AcCE), some tutors from AcCE Demonstration School, some AcCE Lecturers and some distance students of the University of Education, Winneba (Accra Campus) participated in a “Teaching and Learning Resource Making Workshop” at the Teaching and Learning Resource Centre (TLRC) of the Accra College of Education (AcCE), Accra on Friday 23rd July 2021. The Workshop was organized by the Early Grade Department of the AcCE in collaboration with Sabre Education, a UK Ghana-based non-governmental organization that is targeted at “building brighter futures” for school children in Ghana.
At the end of the day, participants at the Workshop produced teaching-learning materials (TLMs) covering thirteen (13) thematic areas emanating from the Kindergarten 1 (KG1) and Kindergarten 2 (KG2) curricula of the Ghana Education Service (GES). The Week by Week Themes and TLM Guides that were used as templates for the said TLMs making covered such themes as Learning Through Play; Animals; All About Me; My Home My Country; Handa’s Surprise; Water; Plants; Journeys; My School; My Country Ghana; Traditional Tales; Weather; and, The Market.

The icing on the cake was when the Sabre Education team (Mr. Robert Quansah, Ms. Lucy Ama Berma, and Mr. Daniel K. Aboagye) that facilitated the day’s training donated the Week by Week Theme and TLM Guides that were used for the production of the early childhood education (ECE) TLMs at the Workshop (children’s reading books and prepared TLMs) to the Accra College TLRC. This gesture is to aid in the setting-up of an “Early Childhood Education (ECE) Corner” at the TLRC. The Early Grade Department of the Accra College of Edu (AcCE) was also not left as the Department received assorted children’s reading books and a “chop-box” full of TLMs to help augment the setting-up of a proposed ECE Model Classroom by the Early Grade Department on the AcCE campus.
